An impact on employment is inevitable with tariffs: specialists

For now, the trade agreement between the three countries (Mexico - the United States - Canada) has not been terminated; this does not guarantee that the revision of the trade agreement will take place.

In his presentation, Carlos Elizondo, professor at the Tecnológico de Monterrey, stated that, in terms of employment, 2025 poses significant challenges, as a deceleration is taking place and it will be affected by the imposition of tariffs; “there will be perhaps between 220,000 and 420,000 jobs in the entire Mexican economy”, it is clear that adjustments will be downward, he pointed out.
