An agreement between the Independent Union of Audi Mexico Workers and the German assembly plant was reached on Thursday night, in which a 10.2% global increase was offered, and it must, once more, be put to a vote by the workers to validate.
The union organization reported that this increase was divided in a 7% direct increase to salary and 3.2% in benefits, “only the benefits percentage is broken down in 2 parts during the 2024 year as follows: as of January 1, Food Vouchers increase from 1,480.96 to 1,834.62 pesos and the bonus that has a salary cap goes from 2,450 to 2,850 pesos.”
In this regard, the Department of Labor and Social Welfare [STPS] informed that the new agreement, the details of which will be released in a couple of hours, “is the result of the willingness of both parties to reach a solution to the labor conflict that broke out this last January 24.”
The additional parts of the agreement include retroactive adjustments relating to the change in salary in payments such as the year-end bonus; in the case of profit sharing, the company has committed not to establish caps; there will be no retaliation; individual bonuses will be paid and the salaries pending due to the outbreak of the strike will be paid.
This balanced agreement, to the satisfaction of the Union and of the Company, was reached after several work sessions conducted at the offices of the Department of Labor; the agreement will be presented before the Federal Center for Conciliation and Labor Registration and the Federal Labor Court and will be put to consideration by the workers this next Sunday, February 18.
The willingness to reach an agreement stated by the SITAUDI representatives and the Company was evident, as they both showed a broad openness during the negotiation tables in the search for a solution that was satisfactory to both parties,
The Union and the Company made a priority of resolving the conflict for the benefit of all of the workers at Audi Mexico, considering the importance of the plant in the Country’s economy and, therefore, the STPS recognizes their good will and willingness to reach this agreement.
